Dear GWP members,
Shortly after the start of the winter semester, here is a newsletter to inform you all about the activities of the GWP. Following the very successful GWP.2025 conference in Erlangen six months ago, the new steering committee has now taken up its work. The elected committee members are: Axel Gelfert (TU Berlin) as president, Lena Kästner (Bayreuth) as vice-president, Michael Jungert (FAU Erlangen-Nürnberg) as managing director, Enno Fischer (TU Dresden) as treasurer, and Anna Leuschner (Wuppertal) and Mathias Frisch (Hanover) as additional board members. Simon Friederich (Groningen) was co-opted by the steering committee as representative of the Journal for General Philosophy of Science (JGPS).
Further decisions taken by the Members’ Assembly concern a slight increase of membership fees from next January; this is necessary to ensure the long-term viability of the Society and the co-financing of future GWP conferences, for which registration fees are to remain moderate. The minutes of the General Meeting can be found in the members’ area of the GWP website.
As usual, there will be a special issue of JGPS from the last GWP.2025 conference; the Call for Papers has been sent to all those who presented at the conference. The guest editors – Michael Jungert, Jon Leefmann, Sebastian Schuol (all FAU Erlangen-Nürnberg) and Axel Gelfert (TU Berlin) – look forward to receiving numerous submissions via the EditorialManager portal. Meanwhile, the special issue from the previous GWP conference has finally been published (after some delay) as the September issue of the JGPS: https://link.springer.com/journal/10838/volumes-and-issues/56-3
We have already reached out regarding the hosting of the GWP.2028 conference; as always, the steering committee is open to suggestions, proposals and expressions of interest!
