New specialization at CEU Vienna: MA Philosophy of Nature, Science, and Society, with merit-based and need-based scholarships available (Oct 15, Feb 2 deadlines)

The Philosophy of Nature, Science, and Society specialization for CEU’s Philosophy MA Program builds on the CEU’s strengths in metaphysics, social ontology and the history and philosophy of science, within and beyond the philosophy department.
Explore how nature, science, and society interact, engage with current debates on issues such as the relation between theories and reality, facts and values, objectivity and scientific freedom, and address concrete global problems at the intersection of nature, science and society, such as mental disease, classification of people, environmental disasters, climate change, or pandemics!

Our MA programs are one or two years in length. More info on our MA programs page (incl. example course list; link to TE courses).

We have merit-based and need-based scholarships at CEU. Merit-based financial aid is very competitive and there are strict eligibility criteria for the need-based financial aid.

About the Philosophy Department at CEU: CEU’s Philosophy Department is internationally recognized as one of the top analytic philosophy programs in continental Europe. Its faculty has published in the best journals and presses in the world. But more than that, CEU’s philosophy department uniquely combines analytic, continental, and historical approaches. The department offers small, interactive classes, and weekly talks with international academics (colloquium series during term time). Students receive a great deal of personal attention, and classes have a low student/professor ratio. Find out more about the Department of Philosophy.

About CEU: The Central European University in Vienna is accredited both in the United States and Europe. CEU is an English-language university in Vienna, with an exceptionally diverse international community, with students coming from over 100 countries, and faculty from some 40 countries, which makes for an unusually stimulating environment. CEU is a largely post-graduate institution with a small undergraduate student body.
